The Samurai city : Kanazawa
Kanazawa is a prefectural capital of Ishikawa prefecture. It is known for being a traditional city. It is famous for its unique culture and heritage. Many historical buildings and artifacts have been preserved in this day. Wandering into any of the city's three tea districts (Higashiyama, Nishichaya-gai and Kazue-machi), the home of Kanazawa's ”Geisha", you will be transported into another time in history. Visit a traditional teahouse and enjoy a few moment’s of rest and relaxation. Pass though Nagamachi, one of the best-preserved samurai quarters in Japan. Or stroll through Kenroku-en, one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan and stunning in any season.
Culture
Kanazawa is known for its high quality craftsmanship. In 2009, UNESCO recognized Kanazawa as a city of crafts and folk art. Kutani porcelain, Kaga-Yuzen silk dyeing, lacquer ware, and gold leaf are still made in small workshops throughout the city.
Food
As it is surrounded by the Japan sea, mountains, and plains, Ishikawa Prefecture has an abundant diversity of food products, which changes with the seasons. You can enjoy real Japanese cuisine that is currently listed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritages.
Hot Spring
Hot springs (onsen) can be found all around Ishikawa Prefecture. You will find traditional Japanese hotels (ryokan) at all of these hot spring resorts. The attendants dressed in kimonos will greet and serve you in traditional Japanese hospitality.
